So, what does it take to survive college? As what I promised, I would share to all of you, my personal experiences as I personally experience it in my college days. Going back to my first year in college experience, the ingredient number one in surviving is no other than having the courage.
I was nervous as hell during my first days in college. From our subjects, to our teachers, and even my classmates, all of it truly contributed to stress and frustration on me. If there is one thing that I am having a hard time in, that would be finding friends. Of course, you wouldn’t want to choose the people that you know might bring bad influence on you, right? So what I did? I scanned them first. Tried to figure out if they are worthy of being my friends and it actually required long time for I was able to find some friends on the fourth day of class.
What do I mean by being courage? Well, what I did was I took a deep breath and told myself that I can do it. After some positive thinking, I then decided to talk and chat with some classmates. It actually turned out well for I was able to find my very first friends in college. I learned that interaction and communication is very important especially when you are trying to meet a person, you would be able to know them better by asking them and also telling about yourself.
As soon as I opened my mouth and talked to the people around me, that is where communication took place. As for me, it helped me find my friends, as well as get to know them better.
Having courage does not only apply in finding friends. I was also able to apply it in other things such as reciting. I was able to boost my self-confidence the moment I opened my mouth and recited in class. Don’t be afraid if you are unsure of your answer, I’m sure that the teacher would appreciate your effort, and even commend you for it. =)
